Farm Assistant

Station pastures limited is seeking a new team member to join our 1450 cow dairy farm located 20 minutes to the town of ashburton, New Zealand. 
You will be part of a large team of 7 people from all different nationalities.

This role has plenty of room for an individual to learn and progress in the industry as well as plenty of on farm training available. We run a 5.5 on and 2.5 days off roster with an average of 45 hours a week.

We are a pasture based farm using pke and silage in the shoulders of the season as well as some regenerative farming practices. We milk in an 80 bail rotary, with automatic cup removers, auto teat sprayer, protrack and in-shed feeding. The farm is 420ha with a neighbouring block used for winter. We use Affimilk cow collars for heat detection, animal health monitoring, and feeding patterns/ Intakes.

We calve twice a year, 550  in Autumn and 900 in Spring. Our winter milkers are housed in a wintering barn. We utilise 3 in 2 milking regime during a majority of the year as this helps reduce hours and time in the milking shed for our animals and team.
Off farm activities are encouraged (sports, young farmers, socialising, travelling etc.)

Your role will include but not limited to; 
Milking, break fencing, weed control, animal health monitoring/recording, tractor work,treating lame cows/ general health treatments. assisting with calving, washing up and other General farm duties.
