Beach Farm Work Landscaping 2 Weeks

Stay on a pictureque farm on the beautiful Matapouri coast.  Your private accommodation is in a glamping area with a flat, sheltered area for your tent or van.  A few steps away is your own bathhouse including shower, toilet and vanity.  There is a shelter and hang out area that has storage area, table to set out your stuff a  BBQ with a separate burner plate and a fridge/freezer.   These amenities are a great complement to van life or car plus tent camping. Cell reception is OK and you can get wifi access if needed at the main house.   The glamping area is supplied with fresh tank rain water.  Filtered water is available from the house.

This is a great complement to van life but You really need a van or car and tent will full camping capability.

There are two main jobs:

1. Getting rid of big weeds with a pick axe and machete.  There is also a lot of work with a brush cutter.  This is a very physically demanding job.  If you are not strong or used to physical labour, you will not enjoy this job. You will be working mostly by yourself, clearing an ever expanding area each day.  Job satisfaction comes from seeing the weeds disappear. (6 hours per day)
2. Working on setting up the organic garden to feed the family on the farm and others.  This includes digging, planting, building fences, moving rocks, setting up irrigation etc., (2 hours per day)

You should have work boots and good gloves. Leather ones that fit you well.  Not the silly big gardening ones that are cheap.

This job is best suited to people who are physically strong and capable and have skills in general labour, farmwork or construction.  Example you must be easily able to swing a full size pickaxe or sledge hammer and carry a 20kg bag of cement.  If you can’t do that please don’t apply – we will all be miserable.

You would be working with the manager of the 10 acre farmlette.  You will be zoom interviewed by her and me (the owner).  The first few days are a trial is see if it will work out. 

The job is for 2 weeks, maybe 3. Start ASAP

You must be able to work an 8 hour day but you can break it up and go to the beach in the middle if you like.

The benefits of the job are the location which is near a surf beach, swim beach and harbour.

  You must have proof of authorization to work in New Zealand, a bank account and have an IRD number.  

The work pays $24 for each hour worked.  

This job is for one person. However, if you are a couple and you are both of equal strength and endurance then you can apply.
