Cook Needed At Remote Lodge

We're looking for someone permanent to work 35-40hrs a week in our restaurant kitchen. We would consider seasonal applications as well as long-term. There's the option to travel for a few months over winter if staying long-term.

Cheap on-site staff accommodation available, with bills included. Kayaks, electric motorbikes, pushbikes and hot tub available to use.

We're only an hour from Queenstown, but a million miles away!

Kinloch Wilderness Retreat is seeking a cook to join our restaurant kitchen team. You can see many of our menus on the website - www.kinlochlodge.co.nz - with dinner a trust the chef menu each evening; our food is created with organic ingredients, sourced as locally as possible, with chalet style dining in the evening. Our recipes are set for the season and you won't be responsible for any of the food ordering. Focus for this role is lunch, bar snacks and dinner service.

Some cooking experience is essential and you will need to be able to work independently as you'll often be working alone or only with one other person. This means you'll need to be ok washing dishes etc. as well, although we will provide a kitchen hand and dishwasher for busy periods. Training will be provided and we have task descriptions, recipes and kitchen procedures in place to underpin this. We are have installed a heatpump in the kitchen to provide heat/aircon as needed and renovated the kitchen over winter 2022. We have a great reputation for our food and would love someone to help us continue with this.

Kinloch Wilderness Retreat is surrounded by the beech forest alongside Lake Whakatipu and the Dart River. We are a small family business consisting of a lodge with heritage rooms (from 1868), backpacker rooms, EcoScapes, and a cozy restaurant serving breakfast through dinner. We are constantly working towards lightening our impact on the planet and helping guests enjoy a mindful, relaxing environment; last year we put in a yurt, nested in the beech forest above the lodge.
