Skyline Gondola, Restaurant and Luge
Probably the best place to get the most fantastic views of Queenstown is up at the Skyline Gondola, which is nestled in a complex high above town on Bob’s Peak.
It’s just an easy five minute walk from central Queenstown, and you can get to the very top by a scenic gondola. It gives amazing views as you slowly make your way up over pine forests, watching the incredible views stretch out before you in a spectacular 220 degree panorama, with stunning views of Coronet Peak, The Remarkables mountain range and across Lake Wakatipu to Cecil and Walter Peaks. Your jaw will be on the floor!Once you’re at the top, there’s heaps to keep you amused. The Luge is well worth checking out, and you’ve got a choice of 800 metre tracks to hurtle down - it’s so much fun if you race your friends down to the bottom.Or if you want even more of a rush, head to AJ Hackett’s Ledge Bungy or Swing, or you can even take off on a tandem paragliding flight.
"you’ll never be stuck for things to do"
After all that excitement, enjoy a spot of shopping at the souvenir shop, or go and enjoy a bite to eat at the Skyline Café. If you really fancy feasting yourself, you can tuck into the Taste of New Zealand buffet of legendary proportions for lunch or go in the evening and you’ll see Queenstown’s twinkling lights down below. Or just go to the bar for a well-deserved cold beer or cocktail – and enjoy the views.
You can even catch a live Kiwi Haka Maori performance, which is a truly authentic and powerful experience to be a part of.
There’s also plenty of walking tracks to explore at the top of the Skyline, from an easy 30 minute track to a full day hike.
One thing’s for sure – you’ll never be stuck for things to do at the Skyline Gondola, and of course there’s those amazing views stretching our around you so the photo opportunities are endless!
