If you want to see Queenstown in a whole new light, and from a million different angles, you should definitely check out Actionflite.
This is not for the faint-hearted, as this is probably one of the fastest adventure rides in New Zealand ! Not only will you fly at speeds in excess of 300kph, you will be doing it whilst experiencing up to +6 and -3 G's.
Getting strapped in to the Pitts Special high performance Bi-plane is an experience in itself. It's designed specifically for advanced aerobatic flight and is one of the only aircrafts capable of providing this level of extreme adventure.
It wasn't long before we were up, up and away! I'm a big fan of rollercoasters, but this was something else because I never knew when the next stomach-churning roll was coming from.
This was all combined with amazing 720 degree panoramic views of spectacular mountains and lakes.
I gave the thumbs up to the pilot to pull some even more extreme stunts as I felt completely fine, despite being upside down and all around, and he completely got my adrenalin going with some even more crazy manoeuvres! It was mind-blowing, but be warned - aerobatic flying is highly addictive!
Actionflite can be found at 3 Tex Smith Lane , Frankton. It's opposite the Remarkables Retail Park , which is on the main bus route from Queenstown.
Free pick-ups are also available from Queenstown.
Allow one hour for the whole flight experience.
