Toyota Townace

located in Wellington and listed under Cars & Campervans

Where do I start? This is Shelly, our very loved campervan. We bought Shelly 2 years ago off a retired lady when we first came to NZ so we have been the first ones to travel in her. We lived in her for 5 months. In this time we only travelled the north island before settling in Welly where we have been ever since.

She is everything you want/need in a campervan. She is not only self contained but because of the solar installation, she is completely self sufficient so you can live in her completely off grid without worrying about having to power up. Over the last 2 years, we have spent a lot if time, effort and money getting her to where she is now.

Her features include:

- Self contained for 2 people until December 2020, professionally done by myself, an actual certified self containment officer (Tom Wilson- featured on the 'NZ Lifestyle Camping' website)

- A Brand New second (house) 120 Amp AGM Deep Cycle Battery (requires no maintenance)

- 185W of solar power to charge the Deep cycle battery, which is more than enough to keep it topped up, even in cloudy weather

- A VSR which allows the alternator off the engine to also charge the Deep Cycle Battery without risking the starting battery being drained

- The main reason for all the solar power and VSR system is to keep up with the energy draw from the large 12v Fridge which can run endlessly to keep all that food and most importantly beers cold!

- A 230v system, so that if you do want a night of luxury you can plug into mains power at a camp site, so that you can use the mains plugs for a 230v appliances like a kettle, toaster or a heat blanket if you want to go snowboarding etc. This also starts a multistage battery charger which maintains the deep cycle battery

- A sofa which slides out into a bed so if it does rain you can comfortably sit inside the van

- A custom made awning which is easy to put up and just slides onto the side of the van and doubles your outside space if you stay in the same spot for more than a night

- Custom made insect nets to allow you to open windows but at the same time stop them pesky sand flies!

- A usb socket so you can easily charge phones every night and because of the solar/VSR system you don't have to worry about draining battery

- Self contained for 2, but not just the stereotypical self contained van with portable tanks. These tanks are fixed so you don't have to try and carry 25 Litres of water to and from the van, all you have to do is connect a hose to fill fresh water and connect a seperate hose to empty grey water. A 10 Litre toilet which is easily used because of the floor space at the rear of the van.

- An electric shower complete with seperate tank, collapsible shower curtain and collapsible shower tray. Say goodbye to the crappy camp showers. Just fill tank with warm water after warming kettle and flick a switch, you have a pressured, hot shower, in privacy, right there at the rear of your van.

- A 3 KG Gas Cylinder which fuels a 2 Burner Gas Stove (During living in the van for 5 months we filled the gas up twice)

- An outdoor table and chairs which take up no space while stored away in the van

- All Pots, pans, plates and cutlery needed

- Heaps of storage for clothes etc under bed and in cupboards

- Oh and... matching fluffy front seats and steering wheel!

In terms of the van mechanically, it has been our own little baby so we have looked after it very well. - Diesel

- Automatic

- Has done 344,000 kms

- WOF until end of Jan 2019

- Rego until end of Jan 2019

- Cam Belt done Feb 2018

- Last 2 years full Service/WOF History

- We have only ever taken it to one mechanic which is Midas Lower Hutt so they know the van like the back of their hand

- If you want to have it mechanically checked you are more than welcome to do so, we could even pay for a check at your desired mechanic if we have serious interest.

As you have probably guessed by now, we love this van and it has played a big part in our lives over the last 2 years. We will be very sad to see it go but we have added as much as we possibly can into the van so now we have enjoyed it, we want another project to start.

If you want to be the next person/people to enjoy Shelly and make your own memories in her then please either message me or ring me on 02040380039.

Before buying a campervan or car we recommend that you get the vehicle checked by an independent mechanic or have an inspection by the AA undertaken to ensure there are no major faults or problems. If you are renting or taking advantage of a buyback scheme make sure you have a valid contract in place.
