Tongariro National Park includes the volcanoes of Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and Ruapehu and has some of NZ's most diverse landscapes. The park has dual World Heritage Site status and no wonder why with its deep green lakes, alpine meadows ans soaring volcanoes. The most visited thing in the area is to walk the one day trek - the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.
