Dorset House is a perfectly located boutique backpackers hostel in a historic 1871 home, situated in a lovely quiet garden setting and right next to beautiful Hagley Park. Dorset House has modern facilities and offers a range of quality backpacker hostel accommodation. As always there is plenty of light and space, free unlimited WiFi access, late check-in, car-parking, kitchen, laundry and guest lounge facilities. Minx the cat will be asleep on her chair too.



You will find everything you need including a free pool table, DVDs, Sky TV, and the assistance of our helpful staff members. A free travel desk service is available. We also offer breakfast packs for $9.50.

30 seconds walk to leafy, green Hagley Park

10 minutes walk along the park to the Canterbury Museum & Botanic Gardens

Quirky shops on Victoria St - Vic's Cafe is famous (have an iced chocolate!) and we can see it from our front door

Also close to the Merivale and Riccarton shopping and restaurant areas (supermarkets, restaurants, bars, pubs)

The Airport bus is a 2 minute walk away.

Public buses will take you all over the city.

The Naked Bus depot is just a 10 minute walk along the park

Intercity bus depot is a short bus ride or a 25 minute walk for your national bus connections.



Our staff will be pleased to help with your travel questions. Christchurch is recovering and there's still plenty to do in the Garden City. We would love to have to you stay at Dorset House.
