Purposely built Backpackers lodge on the shores of lake Tekapo
LakeFront Lodge was built in 2005 from wood and stone to blend in with the landscape. The Lodge is set on the shores of Lake Tekapo, providing amazing views of the pale blue glacial lake to the mountains beyond. Sleeps 86 with a combination twin / doubles plus four & six bed dorms. Each Lake Front room has access to the deck, which has a large barbeque area and stunning lake views.
The Lodge features a huge common room with lovely natural Macrocarpa wooden dining tables and a huge fireplace, which will make the crisp winters of Mackenzie country much more pleasant! It also has TV, Internet café & Laundry and is a 10 minute stroll to the township, where there are plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants plus a well stocked supermarket to choose from.
We have a great outdoor area for your BBQ’s provided free of charge and hire Mountain bikes and Kayaks and are located next door the wonderful Alpine Springs & Spa providing beautiful hot pools, Ice Skating and snow tubing in the winter.
There is so much to do at the Lake Tekapo Backpackers Lodge – take a walk up to Mt John where the views over the lake & the Mackenzie country are spectacular. Mountain biking, kayaking, fishing, horse riding, scenic flights and even star gazing at night. All activities can be booked at the Lodge.
